Finding a List of Upcoming Courthouse Foreclosure Auctions
A reader of our blog sent an e-mail earlier this week asking the following question about using RealtyTrac:
"Do you have a complete listing of what is on the court's calander for foreclosure sale? I tried your free trial and did not find it very useful. Is there an advanced or other version?"
This is a great question, and the answer is yes we do have a way to find all the upcoming foreclosure sales on the courthouse steps. And it is available in the RealtyTrac free trial, which gives users full access to all the data and search tools available to premium monthly members.
Here's how it works.
After you log in to RealtyTrac, search for the county where you want to find a list of scheduled foreclosure sales (Trustee's Sales in some states; Sheriff's Sales in other states).
On the Search Results page, make sure the Auction tab is selected and then click on the "Modify Your Search" dropdown.
Select "Auction Date" in the Sort & Display dropdown.
Select a Begin Date and End Date under the Date Range. For instance, to see all properties scheduled for sale at the courthouse steps next week, I enter a date range of August 10, 2009, to August 14, 2009, and then click the "SEARCH" button.
In this case, 114 properties are scheduled for foreclosure sale in Multnomah County, Ore., next week.
Click on the Auction Date heading in the search results to sort by auction date in ascending or descending order.
Click on a specific property address to view the details, including the exact auction time and location.
