RealtyTrac Launches New Renter Alerts Program
What if you are a renter who is faithfully paying your rent on time, but your landlord isn’t paying the mortgage?
Sadly, since most state and local laws often don’t provide basic protections for renters during the foreclosure process, many tenants are caught in the legal crossfire and stung by eviction notices — often with little or no warning. Increasingly, more unsuspecting renters are being given only a few day’s notice before they are evicted, leaving renters scrambling to find affordable housing.
But now renters can protect themselves from foreclosure evictions by subscribing to a new service for renters — RealtyTrac’s Renter Alerts Program.
The service tracks any property for 12 months, alerting renters immediately if the landlord falls into foreclosure and if a property’s foreclosure status changes.
Subscribers to the service, which costs $24.95 annually, can change the address they’re tracking up to three times a year and can go online anytime to check the status of the property.
Prospective users can also check to see if an address they want to monitor is in RealtyTrac’s coverage area before they subscribe.
